Dr. Kazan was bitten by the emergency medicine and EMS bugs when he took an EMT class at UCLA in 1994. Since then, he has held a long list of EMS positions, from instructor and dispatcher to medical directorships, and his passion is for teaching, quality improvement, and process development. Currently, he serves as the Medical Director of the Los Angeles County Fire Department and is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, in addition to continuing his private practice in emergency medicine. Under his leadership, LA County Fire has launched a number of innovative and nationally recognized initiatives.
