Kate Elkins is an emergency medical services and 911 specialist with a background spanning two decades in EMS, 911, public health and injury prevention. At the NHTSA Office of EMS and the National 911 Program, she works on both EMS and 911 initiatives related to rural and tribal systems, emerging infectious diseases, education, mental health, workforce wellness and geographic information systems (GIS). Kate has a Master of Public Health degree with a focus on injury prevention and is currently a DrPH student and Bloomberg American Health Initiative Fellow studying health policy at Johns Hopkins. She is an active paramedic, preceptor, paramedic instructor and medical specialist with Maryland Taskforce 1—a FEMA US&R team.
