John Jardine, MD, is a board certified emergency medicine physician practicing for almost 25 years. His career started in EMS as a NY State EMT and paramedic. Following residency, he began work in Falmouth, MA, where he soon became introduced to the Falmouth Road Race. He is now the medical director for that race. In his 20 years as medical director, Dr. Jardine has treated nearly 500 cases of exertional heat stroke. He also serves as Chief Medical Officer for the Korey Stringer Institute at UCONN, with the mission to provide research and education to optimize safety and prevent sudden death in athletes, warfighters, and laborers. He has co-authored more than 25 peer-reviewed articles on the subject and has become a recognized expert in the treatment of exertional heat stroke.
