EMS Training Specialist
Irving Fire Department
Sheila Sotherlund is a NR Paramedic and Texas Licensed Paramedic. She has specialized training in Firefighting, Rescue, Disaster Medicine and Critical Care Transport. She holds a BS Business Management from LeTourneau University and additional formal education in Chemistry from the UT Arlington.
Sheila currently serves as EMS Educator for the Irving Texas Fire Department. In the past, she was a Firefighter/Engineer/Paramedic with two volunteer departments. Irving Fire is a large urban department with 300+ EMS Providers. Both volunteer departments provide ALS 911 response services in rural Texas. She also served as EMS Lieutenant for one agency.
Sheila enjoys teaching and helping others grow in their chosen profession. Her particular passion is helping others acquire and hone skills leading to better patient care and seamless integration of the healthcare team.
